Project Manager – Propeller Person

Project Manager – Propeller Person

Success is a journey, not a destination… Being part of any project is also a journey…

I have been in automotive industry over 18+ years handling multiple projects & programs with varied complexities, volumes, requirements and escalations and one thing that WAS, IS and WILL be common… highly motivated team is behind the success of every project/ program. ?You can find thousands of books talking about how to manage projects but the experience you gain in real time is completely different and no books can explain.

For me Project Management = PROPEL (= PROject + PEopLe) . The Google meaning for the same is “drive or push something forward”. True…in any project the main responsibility of the project manager is to act like a PROPELLER PERSON to steer projects in the right direction. Here project manager is steering a multiple stakeholders with varied experiences, expectations, education, backgrounds, culture and many other parameters.

Wow… Such a complex topic to handle and to handle this complexity project manager has to develop a highly complex architecture with the right linkages to ensure perfect connections with each and every member of his team and other stakeholders. Till date no Tool, AI/ML, Algorithm or Technique exists to handle this complex issue.?

A successful project manager is a successful architect who creates this complex structure by analyzing the requirements of different stakeholders, defining the right input and process to get the desired output. All these things happen in his brain and keep getting edited again and again with multiple versions as and when the requirements and/or stakeholders’ expectations are changing.?

Every team member plays a pivotal role at different phases of a project life cycle but project manager is pivotal throughout the project to ensure balance between the business success, project success and team success.?
