Project M?bius - Re-imagining Computation with the MICT Framework

Boredbrains Consortium is undertaking Project M?bius: the development of a novel CPU architecture built from the ground up on the principles of the Mobius Inspired Cyclical Transformation (MICT) framework. This is not an incremental improvement to existing CPU designs; it is a fundamental reimagining of computation, leveraging the power of iterative processes, adaptive learning, and contextual awareness to create a processor that is inherently more flexible, efficient, and intelligent.

Traditional CPUs, based on the von Neumann or modified Harvard architectures, operate on a rigid, linear fetch-decode-execute cycle. Project M?bius, in contrast, replaces this with a dynamic MICT cycle (Mapping, Iteration, Checking, Transformation). This allows the CPU to:

  • Adapt in Real-Time: Dynamically adjust its instruction scheduling, resource allocation, and even its internal microarchitecture based on the current workload and environmental conditions.
  • Learn and Optimize: Continuously learn from its execution history, refining its predictive models and optimizing its performance over time.
  • Integrate AI Natively: Seamlessly integrate AI processing capabilities directly into the CPU, eliminating the need for separate AI accelerators in many applications.
  • Break the Von Neumann Bottleneck: Potentially mitigate the limitations of traditional memory architectures through predictive fetching and adaptive data management.

The initial phase of Project M?bius focuses on developing a functional software simulator of a simplified RISC-V processor based on the MICT framework. This simulator will serve as a proof of concept and a platform for further research and development. Future phases will explore hardware prototyping (using FPGAs) and, ultimately, the potential for custom silicon design.

Project M?bius is not an isolated endeavor. It is a core component of a larger vision for a unified technology ecosystem built on the MICT framework. This ecosystem includes:

  • MICT-Based Project Management System: A next-generation project management application already under development.
  • JARVITS (AI Assistant): A highly adaptable and intelligent AI assistant.
  • Guardian (Ethical AI Oversight): A framework for ensuring responsible AI development.
  • GenesisOS (Operating System): A planned operating system designed for adaptability and human-centric computing.
  • MICT/HCTS Infostructure: A unified framework to address all levels of information.

These projects are interconnected, with the MICT-based CPU potentially serving as the foundation for a new generation of intelligent and adaptable systems. The project has broad implications.

Boredbrains Consortium is committed to open-source principles. The core MICT framework and supporting tools are being released under a permissive license to encourage collaboration and accelerate innovation.

Project M?bius represents a bold and ambitious vision for the future of computing. We are seeking partners and collaborators who share our passion for pushing the boundaries of technology and creating a more intelligent and adaptable world.

Sara Hooker after watching your video on the Hardware Lottery, sorry I haven't read the book yet, I think you'll find the MICT CPU very interesting. This framework lets us make really cool, powerful stuff with very little. There's so much more to this than people even understand.

By using the #MICT framework I've been able to reduce the initial simulation development time from 1-2 years down to 30 days! Yes, that is a very realistic 30 days to simulated proof of concept.
