Progressive People’s Foundation of Guwahati draws roadmap for welfare activities

Consequent upon conversion of the social media platform “Progressive Media Group” to a trust named “Progressive People’s Foundation”, the first meeting of the trust was held at its office in Ganeshguri, Guwahati on Sunday, October 4, 2020. Following felicitation of advisers and other dignitaries, the agenda of the meeting was placed before the table by Mashuk Ahmed Laskar, Member Secretary of the PPF Trust.

Following review of the previous set-up and activities by different sub-committees, the first item that was taken up for discussion was the training of candidates for different government jobs which has already commenced with the launch of the Progressive Career Point last month. About 30 candidates belonging to different communities have enrolled for the training and six faculties are offering them honorary services through online classes. Candidates from BPL families are being provided training free of cost.

Rafique Ahmed Laskar, founder trustee of PPF, informed the audience about launch of a pilot project under which widows, divorcee women, and orphans would be given financial support for rearing ducks so that that they may become financially self-reliant by selling eggs. Preference would be given to those applicants who reside near rivers and wetlands.

Under this project, notice boards will be installed at vantage points in rural areas where information relating to new schemes of the government and availability of scholarships for students will be displayed on an ongoing basis. It was also resolved to publish a booklet containing the different facilities available with the government for healthcare and medical treatment of the common people.

Abul Hussain Choudhury, a renowned graphic designer, was assigned the responsibility for creating a website for PPF. The meeting ended with a prayer, led by Abu Yousuf Choudhury, Advocate Gauhati High Court, for successful implementation of PPF’s plans and programmes as also for the peace and progress of the country.
