Progress Towards an Electric Vehicle Era; Goals and Challenges

As per a Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) report, the total retail sales of electric vehicles, including passenger and commercial vehicles, have increased by 25.5% for November. The e-two-wheeler sales were up by 18.82%, the e-three-wheeler sales rose by 32.37%, and the electric passenger vehicle sales grew by a staggering 77.35% on a year-on-year basis. Despite impressive growth figures, the industry remains in its early phases, holding immense growth potential that India intends to fully capitalize on. India has a target to achieve net zero emissions by 2070, and large-scale adoption of electric vehicles plays a huge part in achieving this goal. India holds an ambitious vision to become a fully electric vehicle nation by 2030. Whether this goal can be attained remains to be seen however, the nation appears to be making significant strides in accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles.
