Progress Starts Where You Are
These words from Arthur Ashe really resonated with me this week:
“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”
They especially timely when frustration and uncertainty threaten to overwhelm us.
For many, the days following a pivotal moment—whether personal, professional, or societal—can feel like staring at an insurmountable mountain. The challenges seem insurmountable and too much to handle, but progress, both individual and collective, rarely begins with ideal conditions. It starts with where we stand today.
Each step matters, no matter how small. A conversation. A decision. A single action. These moments, added together, create momentum and turn frustration into fuel for meaningful change.
If you’re feeling disheartened or stuck, take a deep breath. Look at what you can do today with what’s within reach. Sometimes the most powerful outcomes come from the humblest beginnings.
How do you find ways to take those first steps, even when the path ahead feels daunting? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Happiness is the new rich. Inner peace is the new success. Health is the new wealth. Kindness is the new cool. - Syed Balkhi @syedbalkhi

3 个月Wonderful Note! How to take that first step? Physically speaking, lift the leg, extend the leg, plant the leg and repeat. Practically, I think it’s a matter of breaking down the mechanics; if the entire step is daunting, can one focus in on just the next micro action; the next flex of the leg muscle; the next meaningful task. Very thought-provoking! I used to check-in for these on a weekly basis and I need to get back to doing so!
