Progress 8 results out
Been waiting for this a long time. I was just about to write a post to explain all about P8 to readers who may have forgotten quite what it was all about, so I reminded myself via the DfE guidance notes. I got as far as the following, before giving up:
"If main test mark does not exist, then we assign the pupil the middle mark of the compensatory level 2 range. If the main test mark is lower than the minimum mark for the compensatory level 2 range then we assign the minimum mark of the compensatory level 2 range and if the main test mark is higher than the minimum mark for the compensatory level 2 range then we assign the maximum of the compensatory level 2 range."
Anyway the data is out - schools scoring below -0.5, unless they're special schools or have other special circumstances, had better beware: Ofsted may be headed your way. All data comes with a helpful category rating to show comparisons with the national average.
Remember that not only is this provisional data, it's likely to change as scaled SAT scores and reformed GCSEs work through the system over the next few years.
Mrs May: please note how well grammar schools haven't done.
