I had the honor of interviewing a well-known speaker and TEDx presenter, Mental Health Advocate, Suicide Prevention Speaker, and Organizational Trainer, Julie Mclean. She was raised in a small town in New Jersey. Her early struggles with mental health issues, beginning at the age of 16, led her to contemplate suicide, and the subsequent years were marked by persistent thoughts of self-harm.?
The stigma surrounding mental health and mental illness left her feeling like an outsider, with no one to turn to for support. In a pivotal moment in 2019, her husband stepped in and asked her three essential questions: "Are you OK? Do you want to hurt yourself? And do you have a plan?" These questions prompted Julie to seek help, and she enrolled in a transformative talk therapy group.
