A Profitable USPS - Why Not?
What would prevent the USPS from becoming a profit engine - perhaps even earmarking returns for infrastructure re-investment? David G. Ross from Stifel Transportation & Logistics Research Group provides interesting insight into how the USPS is evolving in the new normal of E-Commerce - both competing and partnering with some of the most successful public companies in their own space.
There is still work to do to solve the pension funding problem, but David's research (link below) gives us a glimpse of the opportunity for the 241 year old organization to evolve into something entirely different. It will all hinge on vision and leadership - but certainly it could be a real prize for the US if the inherent capabilities of USPS can continue to be developed and enhanced to serve this new distribution model.
