Professor Finola O'Kane appointed as a Senior Fellow at Dumbarton Oaks for Garden and Landscape Studies

Professor Finola Kane of UCD's School of Architecture, Planning & Environmental Policy has been appointed as a Senior Fellow at Dumbarton Oaks for Garden and Landscape Studies.

The Garden and Landscape Studies programme at Dumbarton Oaks was established in 1972 to support advanced scholarship in the history of gardens and landscapes worldwide, from ancient times to the present. The programme aims to deepen the understanding of the history of landscapes and gardens as a field of knowledge, an area of research, a focus of teaching, and as a practice and profession. The Senior Fellows committee advises the Director of Dumbarton Oaks on all aspects of research concerning Garden and Landscape Studies.

Dumbarton Oaks is a research institute, library, museum, and garden of Harvard University, located in Washington, DC. It welcomes researchers at all career stages who come to study its books, objects, images, and documents. The public can visit its historic garden, designed by Beatrix Farrand, its museum with world-class art collections, and its Music Room, which hosts lectures and concerts. The institute disseminates knowledge through its publications and online resources, and its innovative programming introduces students of all ages to the museum, garden, and collections.
