Yesterday I attended a gathering organized for the guidance of Job seekers (Accounts & Audit professionals) in UAE by
Naffar Hussain ACA,APFA
, at Mamzar Beach Park at a BBQ party. The majority of the attendees were our acquittance about the CA fraternity.
Here I like to appraise Naffar Hussain & his team as doing a tremendous task for the community.
Here are Some Tips for Job Seekers (takeaway from yesterday's gathering):
- You can start exploring Job Websites like Bayt, Gulf Talent, Dubizzle, Monster & Nukari to know your expected salary package.
- Find professional connections in UAE & talk with them to know the job market situation in UAE, Visa, and accommodation issues.
- Plan your trip before landing in UAE, especially budgeting your expenses incurred during your stay in UAE for the Job hunt.
- You can get your relevant Degrees or certificates attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & UAE Embassy.
- Update or create your account on LinkedIn and other social media platforms and connect with professionals in UAE.
- Please make/ update your CV professionally & concisely, and elaborate on your area of expertise, as UAE employers are looking for specific experience, skills & qualifications. Likewise, if your significant experience is in Real Estate of FMGC, highlight & mention that.
- Update your professional skills, e.g., IFRSs, Accounting Cycle for specific businesses, and General Entries for particular transactions related to your area of expertise.
- Learn about Local Laws & Regulations, i.e., VAT, Corporate TAX, ESR, UBO, AML, Company & Labour Laws.
- Buy formal dresses & preferably own a laptop to carry with you.
- ?Practice for Job Interviews & if required, and improve your English communication skills as this is the only proper business communication in UAE.
- Obey the local laws & regulations and do not overstay or violate the law.
- ?Most of the Job openings are in Dubai as compared to other Emirates
- Find a suitable place to stay according to your budget, preferably near the Metro station, so it will be cheaper & easier to commute.
- Try to attend social or professional events happening at that time in the city.
- Find your friends & colleagues already in UAE & mingle with them.
- Start your day early & get dressed up to be ready for any interview call.
- Preferably use a laptop for searching job & sending a CV.
- You can customize yours as much as you can according to the Job requirement.
- Mention only relevant Skills, Education & Experience in your CV.
- Change your WhatsApp to UAE Number.
- Update your location on the social media platform.
- Spend time on social media platforms like LinkedIn or professional WhatsApp groups
- Once called for an interview from any company, explore that company through its website, social media, or friends.
- Learn about that company's business activities & accounting cycle.
- Check which IFRS or other accounting standards apply to that business or industry.
- Check again for common applicable Local Laws & Regulations, likewise VAT, Corporate TAX, AML, ERS, or UBO.
- Dress appropriately for the interview.
- Practice answering expected questions at the interview with a friend or in front of a mirror.
- Try to reach out before the time of the interview.
- Once asked, convey your salary demand clearly, and do not accept any offer below your expected expenses.
