Professionalism and personal brand value

Growth Marketing | Combining practical understanding of the demands of the market with the broadest possible imaginative scope.
Immediately I hanged my CV and took the jungle of entrepreneurship, I had a big dilemma of either projecting a business outlook, especially on social media, or I retain my quirky self, spontaneous and a little bit obscure.
The initial thought was “if I wanted the business world to be serious with me, I should let them see I’m serious for business”. All these thoughts were followed by major LinkedIn marketing pushes and a little bit a laid back attitude on my personal social media handles.
I searched, arranged meetings, pitched to clienteles, but none of these got me creating invoices like I initially hoped. It became a little depressing cause this were all that various books and blog posts on entrepreneurship had thought me, but I wasn’t really hitting home run; some successes? Yes, on building brand image of my new company, but on the financial side, Nada. I had to break down my entire approach, not only was it costing a whole lot of time and money, it wasn’t working.
Fast-forward 8 months later, reviewing my current client base of 3 major companies and some one-offs, none of my initial approach had a hand in it. I remembered what differentiated me from everyone else and that was “me”.
My personal brand which I neglected in the past, maybe for being too “mysterious” or which tends to think too differently was my greatest asset. As much as my past managers and directors found it difficult to follow my train of thoughts, I figured, if I dish it my own way, maybe, just maybe would I be able to create value for my company with the help of my personal brand.
Bottom-line, the nerve endings on Surkreo has been totally merged with mine and that’s what made us different, and we would continue to grow in experience and expertise with the help of other brands that we work for.
Like we always say, “we love to be a part of your team”

9 年Great insight Daniel. It is imperative to resound ones own voice. We often forget that brands take on the personalities of their creators. Think Virgin. Think Branson. Think Apple. Think Jobs. Differentiation. Be you. Always! People will remember.
