Professional Staffing / Executive Search - Is it still relevant?

Are hiring managers selecting the "right" professional talent? - This is an ambiguous question and met with mixed emotions.
With the advent of online recruitment and inhouse talent specialists, Many business owners have become reliant on their TA teams and HR managers, entrusting them to provide and recruit the best available candidates on the market, With the luxury of selecting from a multitude of online channels and verticals , depending on the business requirements and type of vacancy - has become the "norm" as candidates have been readily available online for some time, Making the human resource department's job very easy right? - In some instances yes - Strategically in most instances not.....
The questions remain - Is this the only effective method of acquiring professional talent? Does your team understand in depth the methodology of selecting talent correctly?
What was the outcome? Was the staff member retained and did the acquisition contribute positively to the business? - Were they truly the best on the market or were they simply the best available at the time? or perhaps they were filled just to meet the deadline? Was ROI measured ? Was the candidate positively identified as a considerable asset upfront?
Business owners should pay particular attention to this when looking to acquire new staff , even more so in current market conditions. An excellent illustration lies within the candidates themselves , The more commonly seen repetitious, Linkedin post : - "I've applied for 100's of vacancies and no response" This is now commonly seen daily on social media feeds.
With the ever increasing online job applications , Has presented a real caveat for direct employment as non-human response leads to negative impressions on employer branding subsequently impacting that "perfect hire" To make sense of this, A typical high caliber job seeker is now deterred from taking their skills to market and online job applications as they fear the same response, In turn now effectively blocking the potential employer from gaining access to an excellent potential employee.
As the legal framework tightens for access to personal information locally - The need for selective hiring increases. Hopefully balancing out the frenzy of unskilled "recruiters" who sling CV's to their clients without conducting real face to face competency based interviews or verifying the individuals information and conducting in depth conversations between both parties.
On the tech-end of the spectrum many talent platform marketers that host confidential job seeker information at scale do not provide or present any any real verification of candidate's information at present , A real dilemma as employers are under the pretense that this information has already been processed and is compliant upfront when accessing their database.
In short there I believe that professional staffing and executive search agencies remain even more relevant than ever as we are trained and accredited professionals and have a distinct value in the market and will continue to provide the highly sought after "human touch" in the seemingly tech-accelerating workplace.
