Professional Poop Paws (A True Story)
Kevin says, "Learn from my mistakes!"

Professional Poop Paws (A True Story)

I have the dubious honor of being known as the "crazy cat lady" in my group of friends.

Maybe it's the fact that I'm 31, unmarried, live in a 700-square-foot apartment, and have at least three kittens living with me at all times.

That, or it's my friends who are crazy.

The reason I have "so many" cats around me is that I foster kittens prior to their adoption. The latest addition to my kindle of tiny kittens is non-other than this little (and I mean little!) bundle of cuddles. Meet Kevin:

Now, in addition to breaking hearts left and right (which he did not take any time to master), Kevin is also learning how to do the basic functions of being a cat: eating, drinking, and best of all pooping.

Let me give you a quick progress update on these efforts:

Eating: Mastered

Drinking: Mastered

Pooping: Work in Progress

Kevin suffers from a serious (and recurring) case of what we like to call, "Poop Paws". No matter how hard he tries to dig, direct, and distract from his tiny messes, he always manages to step in them. And then, while he's trying his damnedest to cover them up, he manages to stomp around in the clean litter long enough to create what can only be described as kitten-sized cement shoes. These littered-coated Poop Paws have the devious nature of masking the smell and impact that should otherwise alarm a person that danger is near...

Kevin's Poop Paws were first discovered in Week One of his taking up residence in the bathroom. I came home, scooped him up, nuzzled his face... and looked down in horror as my shirt was smeared with... well... you get the idea.

Bad Kevin.

While I was cleaning my shirt and cursing the existence of perhaps the cutest kitten of all time, I started thinking about the messes in our careers and how we try to cover them up. Our "Professional Poop Paws", if you will.

The biggest misconception I see from people who continue to stay in jobs they hate or tolerate, is the belief that they're ACTUALLY ABLE to hide how they really feel. Their career feels like a mess, but they cover it up with pretending to be happy, fulfilled, or satisfied. Like poor little Kevin, they work incredibly hard to maintain the APPEARANCE of "having it all together" while they lie to themselves about the sustainability of their situation.

But here's the thing about Poop Paws-- professional or otherwise. Eventually, they get found out. And I can tell you from personal experience that it's much better to take control and clean them up yourself than it is to smear that mess all over someone else.

Take a note from Little Kevin-- Where in your career or your life are you covering up something that's actually in shambles? Where are you pretending to have it all together-- masking your mess-- that you're worried will be exposed? Where are you lying to yourself about the sustainability or success of your current strategy?

The great thing about Poop Paws is that they can be cleaned. All you need to ask yourself is if you want to clean them yourself or wait for someone else to find them. If you're ready to stop pretending, stop hiding, stop lying to yourself about your career's progress, then we have a program that will work for you.
