Professional (and Personal) Development at Miaplaza
Miaplaza, Inc.
Miaplaza, Inc. is elevating online learning and making it more effective than ever before.
At Miaplaza, we believe in the importance of personal and professional development. On our platform, thousands of students are learning new things and creating positive relationships every day. But what about our staff??
Investing in our content creation team ensures we continue to create effective, engaging, and up-to-date content. This allows each of our teachers and team members to grow and learn valuable career skills.?
There are several ways we invest in our employees:?
1. Professional development?
At Miaplaza, professional development can occur in many ways! From encouraging skill building and constructive feedback, to fostering collaboration between departments, letting employees work in other areas of interest, many different learning opportunities are available. We also offer multiple trainings and workshops throughout the year, targeting ways to better meet students’ needs and grow as a team.
2. Individual Learning Coaches
Each of our curriculum developers is assigned to a pedagogy manager who oversees course development within a specific subject area. They work closely with each of the developers and provide one-on-one feedback through regular coaching sessions. Through? these individualized sessions, they create a plan to continually grow the developer’s skills and help them reach their goals as an educator.
3. Professional Learning Communities
“A rising tide raises all boats.” You may have heard this before, but it’s especially true at Miaplaza! We have multiple opportunities throughout the year where all curriculum developers share advice, knowledge, teaching experiences, and new ideas to improve the Miaplaza online learning experience as a whole.?

4. Peer Reviews and Cross-Referencing
Peer feedback and constructive criticism are great for identifying patterns and weaknesses in your work. How will you improve if you don’t know what to work on? All lessons go through rigorous peer reviews to ensure they are high-quality, effective learning experiences. You’ll have your own work cross-referenced and provide feedback for others as well. This way, everyone can learn from each other and become stronger curriculum writers as a whole.
5. Celebrating Personal Victories
It can be difficult to create and maintain interpersonal relationships in a fully remote setting, especially if your team doesn’t meet every day. We offer several different interest channels for employees to socialize and share about their personal lives and hobbies — everything from pets to books, fiber crafts, and even the weather! Designated spaces to get to know each other and share personal victories help us feel more connected and build unexpected relationships, regardless of role or department. Whether it’s a new baby, an engagement, an amazing vacation, or even just a really good bagel, we encourage everyone to share and chat about all the things that make their lives wonderful!
Bonus: Listening to our user base
At Miaplaza, we take positive feedback and requests from both employees and customers seriously! We have several feedback channels to collect input from our students and site parents to ensure we’re meeting their needs. Whether it’s UI bugs, lesson requests, or even just new ideas to make our site parents’ lives easier, we consider customer feedback for continual improvements.?
The same applies to our staff! Everyone at Mia is encouraged to share any ideas, feedback, or input that will help our company continue to grow and thrive. Whatever you want to share, we want to hear it!
When your staff are constantly learning and improving themselves, you see constant improvement in your company too. In 2023, we had dozens of different professional development opportunities — and saw our membership sales get a boost! In addition, valuable feedback from amazing parents helps us to make Mia as fun and intuitive as we can.
How do you feel about constant learning? How has your professional development experience helped you grow as a person and an employee??
