Professional & Personal Branding | Mompreneur Marketing

New venture alert.

I'm in the process of creating content that drives mompreneur success. After all, I am a mompreneur in the marketing world, so I have a lot of insight I'd like to share with moms everywhere.

This blog post is all about one of the most important marketing tactics: Branding.

A lot of mompreneurs on social media don't actually brand themselves. This is because, typically, they are working for a larger company that already has its own branding. But how will your LuLaRoe shop, for example, stand out above the rest?

Below are a few good reasons you should consider developing your professional, personal brand. (Yes, they are one in the same.)

Trust

Having a brand builds trust among your customers and potential customers. It shows them that you are serious about your business and that it's not going anywhere. 82% of small businesses fail in the first year due to lack of cash flow, according to Preferred CFO. This means, yes you guessed it, they don't make enough money to make ends meet.

Spending time on your brand means that you're investing time in your business and it pays off in the end.

It's YOU-nique

Just because you're creating a professional brand, doesn't mean it has to be boring. It should be personal. Think about who you are and what your business means to you and your audience. Can you think of a few ways you could put it all together and create something unique?

For instance, if you sell makeup products and you feel that YOU are your brand; choose a photo of yourself with your "look" and make it into a drawing or a sketch.

Don't forget that your "brand" could still be a great, professional-looking photo of you, just make sure you use the same photo throughout your marketing efforts.

Brand Recognition

When your branding is consistent, people will recognize it faster and remember it easier which will improve your marketing efforts tenfold. When people find you via Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, on your website, etc., what you do should be apparent. Take a look at your online presence with fresh eyes, or ask a third party for help on this one.

Now that you understand why it's important to create a personal brand, I suppose I should talk about what that actually means.

  1. Create a Your Brand
  2. Branded Website
  3. Branded Social Media Accounts*

*Accounts means business accounts when applicable. Links to your website should be everywhere possible: in the bio, in the About section, in your jobs section, etc.

Consistency

If you didn't already pick up on this theme: CONSISTENCY IS KEY in branding. Keep the same look and feel everywhere. Your business card photo should match your profile photos, your cover photo should be the same on each social media account, and all of this should also be reflected on your website.

When you want to "freshen" everything up, go for it! Just make sure you are updating your entire online presence.

I'd love to hear about what you're doing with your business. Drop me a line to discuss!
