No Profession Nobler Than Medicine!

Hope Governments Do NOT Abuse the Data They Collect
A Big Salute to Doctors, Medical Professionals!

There is no profession nobler than that of medicine. Gods may forsake you in your time of need, not doctors and other medical professionals.

They are lifesavers and in times like this when the world is in the grip of what has been called “peacetime’s biggest threat” (Coronavirus - Covid-19), they do it risking their own. It has happened in China, happening in Italy, the U.S. and the world over.

Beyond what they do, they are normal human beings who care for their families and fear bringing the virus home, as this piece in The New York Times touchingly highlights. As one doctor says: ‘I Am Sort of a Pariah in My Family.’ They will never be treated as one, they are heroes without whom the world will struggle to survive.

They are Heroes for Ever

I recall during the SARS days in Singapore, a young surgeon fell victim to it, contracting it from the patients he treated.

The saddest part was that during his final days he was completely isolated and had to bid adieu to his family, including his then three-year-old daughter, through the secured glass panels from his hospital room.

Doctors like him are heroes the world must never forget!

A big salute to all medical professionals who make sacrifices and compromises to attend to the sick, abiding by the Hippocratic Oath they owe allegiance to.

As a lot of personal data will have been collected during COVID-19, particularly in China, the original epicentre of the health crisis, and I am certain doctors will not have used it against the principles of the Oath.

Leaders of the affected countries may or may not be using it in ways harming the interests of individuals. If it is used only in the larger interest of the world, there can be no grudge against it.

Again, a big salute to the medical fraternity!
