Productivity - The Way to Success

Experts estimate that the mind thinks between 60,000 – 80,000 thoughts a day.?

That's an average of 2500 – 3,300 thoughts per hour.?For some of us, our physical and social environments have changed in the last few years.?With additional distractions to deal with, this is making it harder to increase efficiency.

How can I be more engaged?

Identify and list your distractions.?These are the things that are diverting your attention and leaving you feeling disjointed with your engagement.?

Creating boundaries with your time and distractions will positively building your self-esteem as well as increase your focus. Use timers, alerts as reminders to help set boundaries.?

Distractions that can negatively impact our focus

  • Electronic devices
  • Social media?
  • Internet browsing
  • Emails
  • Hunger and food
  • Pets when working remotely
  • Multi-tasking?
  • Understanding new information


Defining Task Management

Task management is one key to improve productivity, here some steps to grow and improve this this skill

  • Identify and understand what is important, this will help with prioritising. Use a system that works for you to support what needs to be done, scaling, sticky note order or ABC123.?
  • Be realistic about what you can achieve, understand how to estimate the needs of the task at hand as well as the time needed, giving extra time for interruptions and distractions.
  • Work in a mono task style of way.
  • Be clear what completion looks like.
  • Visualise the outcome.

How can I be smarter with time?

Task Batching?- Group similar + smaller tasks together in a specific time block.?Schedule reminders to complete tasks once /twice daily. Keep a watch of the time while completing the tasks or set an alarm. Finish on time. Put the tasks aside until the next scheduled time block on your calendar

Time blocking -?is a tool that focuses your efforts throughout the day into blocks of time dedicated to a specific task. Most people jump from task to task based on a "to-do" list. Time blocking requires that you prioritise the task list ahead of time.

If you want a different result do something different. “Albert Einstein.”
