Have you ever wondered how you can manage everything timely on certain days while certain other times you're messed up with your daily tasks?
There have been days when I would manage ten things and still have sufficient time to eat and rest. And at times, I would struggle with accomplishing the minimal work. The fact is time management, productivity, and scheduling your tasks within the 24 hours of the day is an art one must master.
These things, if taken care of, then you will never miss a deadline and will have all your essential tasks tick marked?
1. Preparing a realistic and flexible timetable:
Planning to wake up at 5 a.m. when your body is tuned to waking up at 7 is not a good move, not in the very beginning at least. Begin with small steps that lead you to your goal. Do not directly leap. It's important to set practical and attainable time management goals.
It should be flexible to accommodate sudden, unexpected, and unavoidable items to your list. And practical so that it's within your capacity to abide by it. It's easy to think like a superman but tough to act like one. So let the things gradually get absorbed into your daily routine and with time you will surely improve your efficiency.
2. Avoid distractions and exercise self-control:
We all know, yet we usually give in when it comes to avoiding them. "Just a couple of minutes, I'll scroll through my social media account," we think and end up wasting an hour on it.
Looking at distractions from a different angle, let's say the distraction is not in your control. The best way to deal with it is to walk away, find a quiet place, and focus back on your work. Exercising self-control is a matter of practice. The more we practice, the better we will be.
3. Say no to time wasters
Time wasters rob your productivity. Did you get stuck in a long conversation? Cut it off before it gets too long. Learn to say no to things. That will improve your life, but the others around you will also respect you for your disciplined and punctual behavior.
Learn to say no to people and things that don't deserve your time.
4. Say no to procrastination:
Daydreaming? Is it something that takes up a lot of your time? Focus more on performing and actions, and not solely imagination and dreaming. Whenever you catch yourself daydreaming or overthinking, shake yourself to reality. Remind yourself how precious your time is. And consciously decide to move on to the next job. At this moment, take a look at the long-lasting consequences of what you're doing, analyze and then determine what should be done at the moment.
5. Prioritize:
Let the most important things be at the top of your to-do list, and ensure you take time for them. Complete the more critical tasks than others and leave the remaining ones for the rest of the day. Not all items on your list are necessary.
6. Star tip:
Try to end a particular task in one go without taking any breaks. When you've begun with something and are concentrated upon it, entirely focused, you are at your productive best. Leaving the task undone and deviating midway will take up a more significant portion of your days to complete that work than it would have taken had you met it first and then gotten up for something else.
