Production Downtime
If you’re in a maintenance role in a production line, you will be familiar with downtime due to a breakdown in conveyor rollers, drive rollers and/or guide rollers. This has unprecedented costs when you have employees waiting for the repair to be completed, and ultimately reduces your profitability. I would like to share with you some tips on reducing the risk of downtime; (obviously Murphy's Law still exists but this will help)
- Regular Bearing Maintenance. The simple replacement (after hours/between shifts) of bearings using high quality bearings will often improve rollers lifespan by 2x.
- Roller Spares in Stock. By keeping spare rollers in stock you can reduce a downtime of 10 days to ? hour.
- Cleaning your Rubber Rollers. Using our Rubber Roller Restorer regularly will clean and rejuvenate rubber to its original condition.
- Ensuring your Rubber/Polyurethane has appropriate resistance to chemicals used in production. Ensure you advise AMES Direct all chemicals used in production to allow us to formulate the correct material.
- Replacing your Rollers before breakdown. We recommend performing this after hours, or during your Christmas Break. AMES Direct works through the Christmas Break to assist this, however we do require notice before 30th November to secure a place in our jobbing schedule.
- Using a High Performance Rubber/Polyurethane compound to increase lifespan and reduce roller turnover. Contact AMES Direct for your complete solution.
