RDL’s ST-ACR2 Line Level Audio Controlled Relay designed to automatically switch between two line-level sources.?Two audio sources can be wired to the relay where one will pass a signal through continuously.?If a signal becomes present from the second source, it triggers the relay to automatically switch to that second source.?This relay has a long release delay time making it an optimum choice for most music applications.
Two multiturn trimmers are provided. The?SENS?potentiometer adjusts the audio input sensitivity. A threshold LED facilitates accurate adjustment. The module can be set to trigger on signal levels between -30 dBu and 0 dBu. The?DELAY?control sets the time required for the relay to release when the audio drops below the threshold. The delay adjustment range for the ST-ACR2 is from 5 seconds to 50 seconds.
Here is a diagram showing a residential home patio, which could easily be a restaurant patio.?The background music source used throughout the home is fed to the ST-ACR2, which passes through to the outdoor audio system.?A D-CIJ3 Consumer Input Jack Plate is installed outside in a weather protected location.?When a user connects his or her playback device (i.e.: Smartphone), the audio signal triggers the relay to switch to that source.?Once the user is done, they simply disconnect, and after a few seconds the house background music signal is restored.
This concept could easily be applied to many other applications like a private dining room, guest room, physical fitness room (i.e.: Yoga Class), and many others.??
