You’ll probably feel a lot of imposter syndrome starting out—and that’s completely normal. Use it as fuel to push yourself to learn and grow - Tijesupemi (TJP) Aremu, AIPMM CPM

  • Can we meet you?? ???????

Tijesupemi Aremu, everyone calls me TJP.? Fun fact that has been my nickname since the day I was born!?

  • How long have you been a? PM and where do you work at the moment as a PM ??

I’ve been a PM for? 5 years now, I currently work in Third Bridge an investment research company based in London.?

  • ?On a scale of 1-5 how much do you love your job ?? And why do you love it so much?

Probably a 6, lol. I love being a Product Manager for so many reasons, but mainly because it’s never boring! Every day is different—one day I’m solving problems, I’m coming up with new ideas or working with the team to make them happen. It’s exciting, challenging, and keeps me on my toes, which is exactly what I enjoy.

  • So people say there’s money in Tech is it true? Does that translate to Product management??

Haha, well, they do say there’s money in tech, but let’s just say if I was in it just for the money, I’d probably be a crypto bro by now! Honestly, passion trumps all—I love what I do because it’s exciting and fulfilling, not just because it pays the bills. The money’s just a nice bonus for doing something I genuinely enjoy!

  • ?What is one thing you don’t like about being a PM?

The one thing I’d say I don’t love about being a PM is that you often have a lot of responsibility but no real authority. You’re expected to lead, influence, and drive outcomes, but without the power to directly make decisions for other teams. It’s like being the captain of the ship without actually owning the wheel! Plus, being a generalist can sometimes feel like you’re juggling a bit of everything, but that’s also part of what keeps it interesting.

  • ?Will you pick being a PM to other professions ??

For me, a career is a vehicle for purpose, and being a PM hits the sweet spot of my skills and solving problems that create impact. So for now, it’s a yes—but if something else checks these boxes, who knows? I believe in the power to reinvent yourself over and over.

  • As a PM? how do you manage time?

I heard someone say there’s no such thing as work-life balance—it’s about prioritizing what’s key in the moment and focusing on it. I think the same applies to my job. Understanding the key priorities helps me channel my energy into what truly matters at that time. It’s less about doing everything and more about doing the right things at the right time.

  • ?What can someone who wants to pivot into PMing do with no experience?

If you’ve got no experience, start by using the skills you already have—soft skills like communication, problem-solving, and teamwork are key. Be curious, dive into learning through articles and mentors, and look for ways to apply PM-like thinking in your current role. Don’t be afraid to try, fail forward, and keep improving—that’s how you build experience from scratch.

  • What’s your advice for new PM’s starting out?

You’ll probably feel a lot of imposter syndrome starting out—and that’s completely normal. Use it as fuel to push yourself to learn and grow. Ask questions, stay curious, and trust that you’ll get better with time.

  • ?What do you do outside of work? Hobbies or activities?

A big part of my life is my faith, so I spend a lot of time growing and building in that area. I also love to travel, explore new cultures, and, of course, try all the amazing FOOD that comes with it!
