Dive in! Study the product life cycle, and get hands-on with a product concept—even if it’s just a pet project. - Queen Adebiyi
Hey there! I’m Queen Adebiyi! I’m all about product management and love turning ideas into real-life solutions that make people’s lives easier and more enjoyable.
How long have you been a PM and where do you work at the moment as a PM?
I’ve been in the game for 4 years now, and honestly, it’s been an amazing ride. Every project brings new challenges and opportunities to learn—it keeps me on my toes!
On a scale of 1-5, how much do you love your job? And why?
I’d say a solid 4! I genuinely enjoy transforming ideas into products that solve real problems. There’s something magical about seeing users interact with something you helped bring to life. It’s rewarding, though it can get intense—but hey, that’s part of the fun!
So people say there’s money in Tech. Is it true? Does that apply to Product Management?
Oh, absolutely! Tech is lucrative, and Product Management is no different. When you’re at the intersection of strategy, user experience, and business growth, it’s no surprise that the rewards are pretty sweet!
What is one thing you don’t like about being a PM?
Honestly? Not much! I love the responsibility of making decisions that impact users’ lives. Knowing that my choices can make someone’s day a little easier or more enjoyable is incredibly fulfilling.
Would you choose Product Management over other professions?
Hmm, it depends! I’m super passionate about it, but I’m also open to other opportunities that align with my growth and interests. Never say never, right?
As a PM, how do you manage your time?
I’m a big fan of to-do lists! I map out my day, assigning specific times to each task to stay on track. Of course, life happens, so I keep things flexible enough to handle the unexpected. It keeps me organized without feeling too rigid.
What can someone who wants to pivot into PMing do with no experience?
Dive in! Study the product life cycle, and get hands-on with a product concept—even if it’s just a pet project. Learn data visualization and build dashboards to showcase your skills. And engage with PM communities. Networking and learning from others in the field is a game-changer!
What’s your advice for new PMs starting out?
Stay disciplined and organized. In Product Management, you’re not just managing tasks—you’re influencing the success of someone’s dream. Give it your best and always aim for excellence. It’s a huge responsibility, but that’s what makes it so impactful!
What do you do outside of work? Hobbies or activities?
When I’m not in PM mode, I’m recharging my spirit with gospel messages, reading my Bible, or spending quality time with my family. And, of course, there’s always time for a good movie! It keeps me grounded and ready to take on whatever comes next.
I am so grateful for your time Queen Adebiyi it means a lot to me and my audience. Someone reading this will be prepared for what is to come. Thank you!
