Product Review for Microsoft SharePoint

What do you like?

It is a very good collaborative tool with a lot of features that allows large groups of collaborators and teams with multiple levels of need-to-know and differing levels of access to work on common documents without multiple versions being generated. The features offered give a lot of options for kinds of files, communications, and groups.

What do you dislike?

SharePoint is very difficult to setup and manage from the Administrator's point of view. It is slow to respond and can get very confusing if multiple different permission groups are setup and people begin to have varying levels of access to different things. It requires a manager that really knows what they are doing to keep things in order. Not a very Administrator friendly platform.

What business problems are you solving? What benefits have you realized?

Audit and issues findings. We are able to collaborate on company-wide projects for the implementation and execution of corrective action plans to address audit and test findings and resolve issues and mitigate risks. The program lets multiple people in different locations worldwide add their expertise and work to centralized documents that are then shared with management and used in Outlook-scheduled and Skype-based conference calls.

For which purposes do you use the product?

All purposes. File management, lists, spreadsheets, document generation and control.

What is your primary role when using this product?

I am a heavy user and was also the Administrator for a short while.
