Product Review for Adobe Photoshop
Josh Donat, MBA, CRCR
I make sure acute healthcare facilities get paid so they can help more people get and stay healthy.
What do you like best?
PS is fairly intuitive and often has much greater capabilities than the majority of users will ever need. It's become a go-to program for me and fills MOST needs I would have for any Adobe CS programs. For the casual graphics guy, PS is the only graphic program you'll need.
What do you dislike?
To get the most of the program a user will need considerable training and education. As with any Adobe CS product, the program seems picky about hardware - it takes a lot of RAM space (that's gotten better with the online SAAS approach Adobe has taken in recent years, though). Using PS can slow down other programs if you're running multiple programs simultaneously.
What business problems are you solving? What benefits have you realized?
I needed a way to save money by doing in-house graphics where possible rather than farm out that work to expensive subcontractors. It's done the trick and saved hundreds of thousands of dollars over the last 6 years.
For which purposes do you use the product?
I use it to turn photos into graphics useful for publication in blogs and even as still shots in vlogs. It's a quick and easy way to get things done correctly and professionally. Most of what I make are highway project maps or detour routes.
What is your primary role when using this product?
I'm a public information officer for a state highway department.
What is your relationship with this vendor?
I'm simply an end-user.
At which company did you most recently use this product?
Texas Department of Transportation.
Are you a current user of Adobe Photoshop?
Yes, I am! I don't think I'll ever not be.
