Product owner is the bridge between clients and Development team. Responsible for transformation of client needs or business needs into a working product.

Skills of a product owner are the traits necessary as a liaison between development and business teams. These skills can be gained over a period of time with experience and with advanced education.

Technical Knowledge

Providing a technical solution and communicating a specialised information with team or stakeholders is essential. Product Owners must have proficiency in technical domains to have an active role in development team.

Analytical Skills

Collection, Identification, and analysis of information is important in any line of field and at every level. This skill plays an important role in making or breaking a business. For example analysing competitive advantage and business values in terms of product features or even deciding on which items to prioritise from the product backlog.

Decision Making

This skill is important in both small and pivotal decisions, like deciding on what to do next in a particular situation and how to deal with the impediments at a certain point of time.

Project Management

Although there is a difference between product owner and a project manager but these project management skills are important for the product owner. These skills are used to define a vision, prioritise business values and close these when done.

Conflict Resolution

It is important that team stays on schedule while the conflicts arise during project. It quite normal to have conflicts but it is crucial to resolve those conflicts and Product Owner acts as a mediator.
