A product manager's voluntary sleepless night

I, as LinkedIn would definitely have you know am a Product Manager. I am the product owner of mobiquity Wallet, a mobile wallet platform. And the reason I am up at 4am in the morning typing into this editor is because my product has had its first commercial launch today. ICICI bank has launched contactless payments integrated with its Pockets app today and it is powered by my product.

Pardon the cliche but I do feel like a mother whose child has just taken its first step. The excitement is so high that I cant manage a wink. 

Coming from the stable of new products that Mahindra Comviva is investing in, we have had many moments of going back to the drawing board, many sleepless nights where we had to kill something, heated debates and pulling ourselves up and then stating 'this is what we are going to do...'. There were times when we ran around the floor announcing a new win, a successful POC, or spent hours together trying to find that one statement that defines our product. Today is special because today, our entire team was running around announcing to everyone that was within earshot that our project went "live". While a win always got us excited as being a testimony to us doing something right, it cannot possible compete with the feeling and the sense of fulfilment that seeing the product in action provides.

This year has been a good one so far. We successfully closed a POC on HCE for closed loop payments, now we have launched open loop HCE payments commercially. Within this week we are hoping to see our prepaid offering going live as well. Now that's reason enough to lose sleep.

I am going to have a good day and I wish all of a you many voluntary sleepless nights too :)
