Product Leader We Admire: Mark Clauss
We frequently like to profile Product Leaders we admire, to help inspire you and your team. This month, we are excited to introduce you to?Mark Clauss.?
Favorite?product?book:
Years ago, I read Geoffrey A. Moore's "Crossing the Chasm." I've always found that the central concept critical to the success of any new product is: Designing a new product to focus on a specific segment of customers with similar needs that your new product can nail.
Professional mantra or guiding principle:
Because most product teams are small, we need to lead through influence, and this guiding principle helps to inspire and energize. I aspire to bring enthusiasm for new ways of doing things and find that it is often contagious.?
Best career advice you ever received:
"It never hurts to ask." A great leader gave me this advice in the spirit of owning your development.
Favorite?product?launch you have been part of:
I worked for many years at a company focused on creating best-practice sharing memberships for senior executives at Fortune 1000 companies. I had the opportunity to help lead a skunkworks effort to create a new product for that market segment. We had the opportunity to redesign everything from the content we delivered to our customers to the technology platform it was delivered on. We grew this new business from almost nothing to $100M, and it was a super fun ride.

2 年Mark has a knack for getting the exact diagnosis and solution to problems. When I've shared a problem with Mark, he listens carefully and delivers an easy-to-understand response. Mark's comments make me wonder why I didn't see things so clearly in the first place. That sort of insight only comes with experience.
