Product Highlights: AJ 245 and AJ 285

This article is the first in a series of articles highlighting specific Alamarin-Jet models, their benefits, and features. Alamarin-Jet has put years of research and development into designing and manufacturing the most compact, lightest, and most efficient waterjet propulsion systems in the marine market. We hope you find this profile interesting and informative.

These two models feature our patented Combi-Frame, which allows installation either in short tail or long tail configuration. Alamarin-Jet is the only manufacturer in the world that offers this feature, and it allows the installation of waterjet propulsion into vessels where jets were not previously an option, due to limited space. In particular, the Combi-Frame is suited as an alternative to outboards and stern drives, providing all of the benefits of waterjet propulsion, such as low draft operation, while eliminating the drawbacks of other propulsion types.

Lightweight, compact, and powerful, the AJ 245 and AJ 285 deliver substantially more thrust than jets made by competitors, as shown in this chart detailing the performance versus other manufacturer’s products. These tests are legitimate, using the jets on identical vessels and tested under identical conditions.

As is evident, the AJ 245 outperforms our competitor, hands down (and at a better price, in addition).

Furthermore, all AJ 245 and AJ 285 jets feature grease lubed bearings, greatly reducing maintenance required as well as increasing the reliability of the jets while reducing critical failures. In fact, when our autolube function is equipped, the required maintenance becomes minimal when compared to competing manufacturers’ products. Additionally, grease lubrication means that the jets can be operated when out of the water: a critical feature on SOLAS certified vessels that none of our competition can match without modification.

As to controls, both the AJ 245 and AJ 285 can utilize the whole range of control options: from simple mechanical controls; to hydraulic; to power steering; and even including our groundbreaking, state of the art SIGMA controls.

As to engine compatibility, we maintain lists of dozens of pre-approved engine models and ratings, and we will check any engine not included in the list, or make a recommendation based on project specifications.
