Product of The Decade

In choosing my product of the decade, I looked back at all the things I’ve bought, acquired, been given or touched to think about what has made the most profound effect on my life. It’s been quite a decade with 4K, HDR, AI, Voice, OLED, Hi-Res everything, DSP, smartphones, streaming, Internet bandwidth and IoT all having an impact on anyone that leverages current technology.

My LG OLED was a revolutionary upgrade to an old 5th Gen Pioneer Plasma. My Trinnov Amethyst was the most profound HiFi upgrade i’ve made in 40 years involvement with the black art. My Noble Kaiser 10 Custom In Ear Monitors changed how I listen to music on the go and have made travel oh so much more bearable. My Sony RX1r camera rid me of the photo-upgrade-itis that had previously riddled me to much financial detriment.

All of the above come second to my product of the decade. It’s a piece of software that has transformed how we as a family consume and interact with music. It has tied all the disparate music systems in the house into one coherent system. It allows me to maximise sound quality across all my systems regardless of the incoming source quality. It has connected me with music I would have never otherwise found, and has allowed me to build a catalogue across multiple streaming platforms. It is a joy to use, utterly reliable, beautiful, and continually evolves with really useful new features and functionality. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you ROON, my Product of The Decade.
