Overview of mainland China this week: The civil aviation market remains in a prolonged downturn, with slight fluctuations in passenger traffic volume
There were 87,000 passenger flights per week, with an average of 12,400 flights per day, a decrease of 2% from last week, a year-on-year increase of 166% in 2022, and a decrease of 3% from 2019.
The weekly passenger volume was 11.259 million, with a daily average of 1.608 million, a decrease of 1% from last week, a year-on-year increase of 238% in 2022, and a decrease of 3% from 2019.
The flight execution rate was 72%, down 2 percentage points from last week.
The overall trend of national civil aviation in 2023
In terms of passenger flights, As of December 10th, the total number of domestic passenger flights executed nationwide this year reached 4.2981 million, showing a year-on-year increase of 91% and a 5% growth compared to the same period in 2019. The cumulative number of international and regional passenger flights executed stood at 359,100, displaying a staggering year-on-year growth of 1465%, but a decline of 52% compared to the same period in 2019.
In terms of cargo flights, As of December 10th, the total number of domestic cargo flights executed nationwide this year reached 70,700, showing a year-on-year increase of 5% and a growth of 39% compared to the same period in 2019. The cumulative number of international and regional cargo flights executed stood at 131,100, displaying a year-on-year decrease of 29%, but a significant growth of 244% compared to the same period in 2019.
The domestic aircraft utilization rate saw a slight decline compared to the previous week.
On average, the aircraft utilization rate in China is 7.7 hours per day, experiencing a decrease of approximately 1.8 percentage points compared to the previous week. The wide-body aircraft utilization rate averages 6.9 hours per day, showing an increase of 1.7 percentage points compared to the previous period. Meanwhile, the narrow-body aircraft utilization rate averages 7.8 hours per day, indicating a decrease of 2.3 percentage points compared to the previous period.
