Procrastinators will want to put this one off. Don't.

Procrastinators will want to put this one off. Don't.

One of my clients came to me because Procrastination was showing up as the cause of her burnout.

Our time together started with building an awareness in the habits that created procrastination, and the actual cost of that procrastination. (i.e., time lost, receivables not collected, etc.)

She noticed procrastination often happened while she was at her clients' office.

  • Employees liked catching up with her.
  • Someone gave her "a quick task" as she was packing up ??
  • She was working on a flexible schedule ("I'll swing by on Wednesday...")

After all, she started her bookkeeping business because she wanted a "flexible" life. Therefore, she avoided any idea of "structure".

But "flexibility" had a cost:

?

  • Work was spilling into the evenings because she wasn't completing tasks during the day.
  • She was enjoying the structure-less days at the cost of little-to-no free time for herself on the weekends.
  • She wasn't able to enjoy quality time with her husband.
  • She was constantly feeling stressed.

?

When she came to our coaching session, she thought of structure as putting herself in a cage. After our session, she realized structure was the guardrails that kept her on track!

?

HER REALIZATION: Current Self was sabotaging Future Self. ??

Once there's an awareness, we can create a strategy.

?

Together, we co-created a process to manage Procrastination. As a result of that one-hour coaching session, she:

  • Found herself working less on the weekends
  • Noticed a decrease in stress because tasks were no longer piling up
  • Started enjoying structure, because it created time freedom
  • Less time procrastinating meant more availability for friends and family

?

In my 1:1 coaching program, Freedom, I give my clients the tools to build awareness of the habits that don't serve them AND a strategy to overcome the stressors that arise at work and impact life at home.

?

As an effect, clients notice an improvement in their overall "work-life balance".

?

Ready to chase those dreams? Let’s start with one small step—book a consultation with me TODAY! ??

Best,

Lauren

P.S. We procrastinate because we'd rather kick-off the task/the pain/the discomfort in the short-term, but the truth is that you're feeling it twice: now + later. You're still feeling the need to complete that proposal or send invoices when you decide to procrastinate. And you'll continue to feel it up until the moment that you HAVE to do it... and feel stressed all the while.

?

P.P.S. The fastest path to breaking this habit of procrastination starts by booking a consultation with me. Today. ;)
