Procrastination: what's its source and what can we do to overcome it? (Part 2)
Potential sources for procrastination:
1- laziness
2- feeling overwhelmed by the complexity of the decision or work
3-the thrill of finishing something last minute
4-pleasure in beating the system as in denying the authority of deciding by when we should complete something
5- a fear of the underlying ramifications or symbolism of what completing the task or making the decision would have in your life
6- accomplishes our subconscious goal of abstaining from activities we don't wish to do.
Now let's get some solutions:
Easy as ABCD
A- AWARD- creating a reward/punishment system especially to reward just starting the project as that is usually the hardest step to take
B- work BACKWARDS- finding ways to change the activity into something that you really do want by admitting what you really want and work backward to what you don't want yet
C- CREATE- conditions that force you to do the action regardless of your wishes like hiring a tutor
D- DIRECT Confrontation- Address the underlying fears for completing the task and come to peace with what completing it would mean to you
What solutions work for you?
I feel like this is an area I can use improvement in, so please give me tons of ideas
