Times are changing. Leadership decisions have consequences, not just on one somebody but at times on the entire team or function and even the whole organization. Action is a function of decision. The terrible ingredient of action is that it cant be capsized. Most of the leadership volumes that we read in India are inspired by the west or coming out of the west, be it examples or stories about leaders, corporates, or sports. We as a culture are diametrically distinct and what works in the west, mostly destroys here in India. This has been one of the reasons many corporations or leaders in India plunged from Zenith to such lows that could have never been comprehended. Our culture and communities are tightly stitched around people, their feelings /beliefs, how we honor and appreciate them, and follow the subtle and indirect approach that has always delivered the results without being patronizing. These elements only come into play in an effective manner once we give time to ourselves and think through in detail before taking major decisions so that the corresponding actions are long-lasting and need not be reversed. Think about it and do share your views on this subject.?
