Procrastination in professional work- Understanding the problems and finding the solutions

If you think that you procrastinate, it’s a good news. You’re not alone. It means, you are enough sensitive towards your responsibilities and assignments. If you see around you, you will find that people with the habit of procrastination are comparatively more successful, than people with a casual attitude. The worst part, Procrastination often causes?stress, guilt, or anxiety?related to the?loss of productivity or opportunities, which can promote even more procrastinating. It’s a vicious cycle, procrastination-Anxiety-procrastination.

This may impact your own social and personnel health. People who procrastinate, generally gather their work for their free time, like evening hours or weekends, which is a shared time with their family members, in turn the habit of procrastination impacts the family and surroundings also. Yes, you read rightly, it’s a habit, which is very easy to change. Imagine, if you could alter the habit of procrastinate and utilize your potential up to maximum, where you will be in your professional carrier.

Below are the few simple steps to transform your habit of procrastination into performance-

-??????People with habit of procrastination, generally set an ambitious goal for them with a difficult timeline and then get stuck in the vicious cycle of procrastination. Set small, easier and practical goals, which will keep you motivated and keep away from stress

-??????Keep listing your activities in terms of urgent, important, small and big. Sometime, even completion of many small activities help to overcome the challenge of procrastination

-??????We replace our set goals with some of the worthless activities like browsing on phones, watching You Tube, talking on phone etc. This gives a pseudo feeling of being busy. Identify such habits and try to curtail. This will help you to divert towards your useful activities

-??????Discuss this issue with your close one, this will work as confession and decrease the guilt feeling

-??????Develop a constructive habit like reading a good book, watching a documentary or learning a musical instrument for at least 30 minutes a day

-??????Try to utilize the at least 70% of office time for work only. If you are wasting the office time, you are wasting your own family time. Make a system of daily evaluation of your office time utilization at the end of the day

-??????And finally, if you actually want to break this vicious cycle, just sit for only 15 minutes on your "to do list" and you will see that problem has resolved
