Have you ever found yourself not wanting to do something? For some reason you just keep putting it off.

One thing I have helped many people with is to take the procrastination pause.?

When you find there is something you are procrastinating on take a pause. Ask yourself the question, what is stopping me from taking action?

Your answer will usually fit into a one of these buckets.

  1. You lack motivation: You don’t find the task enjoyable or rewarding.?
  2. You fear failure: You fear that you won't be able to complete a task successfully, or that you will fail.?Ask yourself, what is the worst thing that could possibly?happen?
  3. Striving for perfectionism: You have high standards for yourself and you want to make sure that your work is perfect. Ask yourself, does it need to be done perfectly or is good good enough?
  4. You lack focus: When you are distracted or having difficulty concentrating.?
  5. You are overwhelmed or stressed: When you feel overwhelmed by the number or complexity of tasks you need to complete, you may delay getting started.
  6. You have time management issues: You struggle with time management may procrastinate because you haven't planned your time effectively, or you underestimate the time needed to complete a task.

Here are some tips that may help with procrastination:

  1. Identify the reason for your procrastination: Understanding why you procrastinate can help you find ways to overcome it.
  2. Set specific and achievable goals: Break down the task into smaller, manageable parts, and set deadlines for each part. This can help you stay focused and motivated.
  3. Use a timer: Set a timer for a specific amount of time, say 20 minutes, and work on the task without any distractions until the timer goes off. Then take a short break before starting again.
  4. Eliminate distractions: Turn off your phone or put it on airplane mode, turn off pop-ups, close unnecessary tabs on your computer, and find a quiet place to work.
  5. Focus on the benefits: Remind yourself of the benefits of completing the task.
  6. Seek support: Find an accountability partner, a mentor, or a coach who can support and motivate you to stay on track.

Remember that overcoming procrastination is a process, and it may take time and effort to change your habits. Be patient with yourself, and keep working towards your goals.
