Processes kill your project

Processes kill your project

1) Do new processes always benefit a project?

2) No. Sometimes they can be dangerous.

3) At the beginning of a project, we establish rules to guide the entire team in a specific direction toward the project goals. These rules are what we call processes. They can range from working hours (9 AM to 5 PM), daily meetings at 10 AM, to even limiting coffee consumption to no more than two cups a day (in some cases it can help the project:) ).

4) The primary purpose of these rules is to facilitate the realization of the project's objectives.

5) Initially, numerous rules are beneficial and help propel the project forward efficiently.

6) However, there comes a time when we reach "Plateau Point." Beyond this stage, any new rules (or processes) give nothing (or close to nothing) to the project.

7) This is a crucial moment for every manager: reaching this point signifies that the necessary processes have been established within the project.

8) From this moment, managers should carefully evaluate the existing number of processes. If they feel the need to introduce new ones, they should consider removing or transforming existing ones.

9) Failing to do this can lead to what I call the "Degradation Point," where processes begin to conflict with one another and become detrimental to the project.

10) In conclusion, manage your processes with caution. Good luck! :)
