The event witnessed key discussions on India’s AI roadmap, with Shri Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary, MeitY and CEO of IndiaAI , emphasizing the need for self-reliance in AI innovation.

In a fireside chat, Shri Abhishek Singh highlighted India’s strategic vision for AI development, stating:

• The need for India to build its own foundational AI models, chipsets, and GPUs, reinforcing the goal of self-reliance and becoming ‘Aatmanirbhar.’
• The potential risks of over-dependence on currently open-source technologies and LLMs, which may not remain open in the future.
• IndiaAI’s commitment to supporting students and entrepreneurs through data (AI Kosh), grants, and compute power to facilitate the development of foundational Large Language Models (LLMs) and Small Language Models (SLMs).
