The Process Play partners with Mazrouah FC

Mazrouah FC is a worker-formed football club in Doha, Qatar, that offers hope and direction to African players far from home. The club was founded in January 2022 by Robert Otiato, a Kenyan construction worker who wanted to create a space for African players to come together and pursue their dreams of playing professional football. The club has faced many challenges, including discrimination, low wages, and poor working conditions. However, the club has persevered and has become a symbol of hope and possibility for African players in Qatar.

In March, Alex, our COO, heard Nick Ames 's article on the The Guardian 's Football Weekly podcast and was inspired by the club's story and decided to reach out to Robert, the club's manager, and Nick to offer support.?

"After I heard about Mazrouah’s efforts and saw that they were looking for sponsorship and new equipment, there was no way I couldn’t help. I’ve been fortunate enough to play 20 years of amateur sport, and have personally been shaped by the experiences I've had and people that I have met through sport. I’ve also been involved in a lot of the running of those clubs, and know how much even the smallest amount of support can mean to amateur sports clubs - in this scenario, the impact is exponentially bigger." Although it’s taken longer than expected, The Process Play has managed to provide the club with a new set of training equipment, home and away kits (provided by Avec Sport ). More importantly and excitingly, in the past month we have managed to sponsor the club's registration to join the league.

Unbelievably, after 6 months of long conversations and enquiries, Mazrouah FC are now two games into their league season, putting in two respectable and hard-working performances in a hugely competitive league.?

Since we’ve started talking to Robert and the team, we’ve been blown away by how they’ve battled to where they are now and the vision and principles that they have for the club. Early on in the conversations, he shared the club's inspirational and noble vision statement:
