The Process of Motivation...

This year it feels we have had to work that little bit harder to get things moving, especially with everything that is going on. It is noticeable in creative trends, our buying habits and our courageous attempts to "get things done". We want to keep moving, albeit the strange position we find ourselves in.
In celebration of the wave of philosophy recently being published, about how we should be taking our time and that life is not simply a check box of activities that we must complete in a certain given way... it is wholly justified that we have a more pragmatic and realistic view of what we can achieve in a given amount of time. And what is essentially out of our control. (A lot right now!)
Actions may be slower, and in correlation... so will the results.
However the human race has a neat and cheeky friend called procrastination that likes to sneak into normal everyday tasks and larger life goals. So in an attempt flip things around and to ward off the beautiful beast, a small cycle of event that effortlessly does do the trick. Making way for a more fruitful outcome.
The process of motivation goes a something like this in my head...
1. You think it. (It is a brilliant idea, but it is still just that)
2. You write it down. (Ah, the clarity of seeing it in black and white. More defined and digestible)
3. You discuss with you family of friends. (Advice, opinions and the occasional surprising revelation. Your thoughts become words)
4. You put it on Facebook. (Oh no.. Even your aunt's personal trainer knows now. Devoting your idea publicly out of your comfort circle)
5. You make that first call, write that first email and arrange that first meeting. (Either way you have stuck your toe straight into the commitment zone. Letting the person opposite know you are there, serious and itching to move forward)
It may different every time you apply this to a task. Sometimes you choose to skip a few steps. Hello bravery.
But all in all you are propelled into action, inspired by your previous efforts.
It's important to be kind to yourself right now, not steam ahead. But do bask in normality through focused and active action. When things do settle, and the winds behind us... the action will be a lot easier!
Stay safe. Bhav
