Process Automation Doesn't Have to be Sexy

Yes, it can be sexy. It can be sleek. It can be cool. I would be lying if I said I did not love Robotic Process Automation and the excellent high-speed tools at our fingertips to make your life easier. But I'd be remiss if I didn't tell you that it doesn't have to be that high-end.

When I say Process Automation, you may think #Salesforce, #Katalon, or #UIPath, but I say #VBA! Ok, maybe not that exciting, but it's pretty cool to save tons of money without spending a lot.

With one of our large enterprise clients, we found that they performed many repetitive tasks that needed to be automated. However, new software took forever to be approved, and they needed help today to six months from now. So we looked at what they already had at hand and did a little #McGyver #BootStrapped solutioning!

The solution was elegant in it's simplicity. Use #ExcelMacros to automate their reporting; that's it. We dug into VBA and wrote some fantastic #Macros that not only ran spreadsheets but created #PowerPoint decks, then attached the decks to an email and sent it via #Outlook... all in just a couple clicks.

I know VBA & Macros are far less "Sexy" than UIPath and Salesforce. I agree. BUT, one of those macros saved over $100,000 per year for a 25 person team. Across the enterprise, that could turn into Millions pretty quick. Here is an example of that tool in action Timesheet Macro.

Yes, Process Automation can be pretty exciting, sleek, and high-end. I encourage you to engage it at the highest level possible. Free humans from the burden of repetitive and unnecessary tasks using #RPA. But you don't have to wait. Look around, and you might find that you have the tools at hand to begin automating your repetitive tasks today.
