Procedure to be followed by the security guard for search in the absence of equipment--
The following procedures are to be adopted for body search:
1. Notify the person who is being searched.
2. Watch for signs of anxiety or aggression in the person after being informed of the search.
3. Ask the person to empty the pockets and turn them inside out. Open the collar and pull down the sleeves if the sleeves are rolled up.
4. If the person is wearing extra clothing such as a jacket, ask him to remove it and search separately.
5. Ask the person to stretch his legs and extend his arms to the sides for the search.
6. Ask the person to turn and extend arms and legs (feet should be about three feet apart).
7. When searching, do the following:--Search thoroughly and systematically (follow a sequence so that one does not fail to search certain parts of the body).
■ Search upper body back shoulders arms forward and backward.
■ Search the lower body from waist to feet.
■ Find extra clothing and personal articles.
Return the materials to the person after the search is complete.
8. Submit a written report of any suspicious findings to the relevant authority.
