Problems with Strategy Deployment? Start with Task Management

Effective Task Management: The Foundation of Strategy Execution

During a recent conversation with a major client eager to roll out a comprehensive change management program, a Senior Director made a striking observation: “Before you can run, you need to master walking.” His insight wasn't just about the importance of gradual progress; it underscored his team's struggle with the fundamental aspect of staying focused on task management. This perspective highlighted a crucial yet often overlooked element in achieving efficient goal delivery and maintaining effective reporting.

In today’s fast-paced business environment, effective task management is crucial for the successful execution of strategy. Senior leaders often face significant challenges when deploying strategic initiatives, even though they excel at defining goals and outlining where they want their organization to go.

However, the real challenge emerges when it’s time for action and execution.

Key Pain Points in Strategy Execution

  1. Overwhelming Number of Tasks: Leaders frequently find themselves buried under a mountain of tasks, making it difficult to focus on strategic priorities.
  2. Lack of Prioritization: With so many tasks at hand, determining which ones take precedence becomes a daunting task.
  3. Chasing Updates: Keeping track of task progress and chasing staff for updates can be time-consuming and frustrating.
  4. Excuses for Delays: Delays in task completion are often accompanied by excuses, hindering the overall progress of strategic initiatives.

In our work with hundreds of clients over the years, we've observed that while many organizations excel at defining their strategic goals, they struggle with execution. This disconnect often leads to failed initiatives and unmet objectives. The common thread is a lack of effective task management, which is the bedrock of strategy execution.

Without a robust system to manage tasks, even the best strategies can falter.

Put task governance on autopilot with Presto P-D-C-A

We understand these challenges and have developed an automated task governance solution to address them. Our platform has automated the Plan-Do-Check-Act (P-D-C-A) change cycle, making strategy deployment virtually autopilot.

Here’s how our solution can transform your organization:

  1. Automated Task Management: Our system allows for the capture, assignment and completion of every task in the company, ensuring that no task is overlooked.
  2. Push E-mail Notification System: Unique to our platform, this feature allows leaders to monitor activities from a top-down perspective and send customized chaser emails within seconds. This not only saves time but also enhances accountability and efficiency and keeps your team remimded more frequently that management is governing their work.
  3. Top-Down Enhanced Visibility (Governance): Leaders can easily view the status of all tasks across the organization, which phase in the P-D-C-A cycle they are in, while ensuring that strategic initiatives stay on track.

Andrew, it depends on the culture and maturity of the organization. in my experience the lack of execution boils down to accountability. Reminders and push emails can be configured with no success if individuals are not held accountable for priority work through departmental weekly reviews and one-on-one engagements with their line managers.
