Navigating the Pixelated Challenges: Unveiling the Canvas of Struggles for Graphic Designers

Problems faced by Graphic Designers

As we all know graphic design is one of the most booming industries in this era. But there are certain situations when a graphic artist or designer faces an issue while they come up with an idea or during the process of execution of the specific idea. Let's see some of the common scenarios where we designers get into design or execution blockages.?

  • Rapid growth or change in technology:?As we all know, we are flourishing with technology. For a designer, there are various tools and techniques available to execute their idea. With the rapid growth in technology, we designers need to keep ourselves up to date and most importantly accept the change and evolve with it.???
  • Remote collaborations or remote works:?During and after the pandemic we all are avoiding the office or studio environment or let's say we are trying to adjust it in our environment with work. This itself is a challenge for especially those designers who do not have any allocated space for themselves or who prefer discussion or conversations for identifying their way of execution. No doubt we are loaded with various forums, and platforms for discussion but somehow it's not enough.
  • Copyright Issues:?This is a serious issue faced by or preferably faced by almost all designers at least once in a lifetime. I won't be specific about those professionals who have been working for decades but for freshers… whether it may be the software, assets, fonts, templates, etc. As a designer, we should have a fair idea about copyrights. This is something that needs to be taught to every individual at the academic level.
  • Time-constrained or Meeting deadlines: Remote and online are some the other ways to work is an addon for this problem. Tight deadlines are very common in the design industry, and meeting the deadlines if you are not technically sound can be a challenge itself.
  • Customer or Client expectation:?Sometimes understanding the client's requirements, specifically when you do not have a proper brief or you get a completely open hand is quite tricky plus managing the feedback is an essential skill of a designer. In some cases, we also need to provide our input. So it's really important for a Graphic designer to be aware of various industries such as Medical, Lifestyle, technologies, AI, Robotics and the list goes on and on. In short, we are not someone who can be satisfied by just learning one single discipline.?
  • Diversity:?Keeping this short, as mentioned earlier, we designers need to be mindful of representing diverse perspectives and cultures in our design. Learning and keeping yourself updated is the key.
  • Monetization and Fair Compensation: Now here come the biggest challenges. It might sound rebellious and harsh, but you need to understand the value and effort you take to create even a small piece of artwork. It's not that there are some magic wands which we twist and the artwork appears, Trust me even in the case of “AI '' a designer should adapt it and understand the concept of prompt creation. Well-negotiating fair compensation for their work, particularly in the era of freelance and gig work.

So, the specifics may vary depending on the designer's specialization (web design, print design, UI/UX design, etc.) and the industry they work in. Additionally, new challenges may arise as technology and the design landscape continue to evolve.
