A Problem That No One Is Talking About.

A Problem That No One Is Talking About.

We talked to a group of 4 nurse practitioners serving a farming community of over 10,000.

They do not have a doctor working with them.

Their funding is from the government. The funding is in 2 buckets: 1) operations and 2) HR and salaries.

The operations budget has not been increased in 15 years, and the clinic has a monthly shortfall in funding.

So, what do the NPs do?

They take money from their salaries to pay the overhead costs.

Does not seem right to me?

So, Healtheon.ca is a perfect solution for this NP-led clinic.

They could set the monthly subscription low, e.g., $10 to $15 per person per month.

And have adequate funding to continue to operate on a sustainable basis.

They could also attract a medical doctor if they pay him a monthly bonus.

We?at Healtheon.ca welcome discussions with more NP-led clinics so that we can help them to help their patients.

It seems as if our priorities are so backwards. Focus on our Healthcare system is a must. We are at the breaking point for ALL Healthcare workers and Patients as well. Patient must partner with their Clinics in order for a positive change to occur.

It is terrible that hard working medical staff like nurse practitioners need to take part of their pay to supplement the operation of their clinic to serve Canadians. It really isn’t fair. There needs to be a better way to fund these clinics.
