You may say it is rather a poor dinosaur ?? For me it’s just not an obvious dinosaur but for sure there is a potential in it ?? Development is usually a rocky road and very often starts with something at the best similar to expected output. We know (of course we know) ?not to give up when it comes to OURS ideas. We perhaps also know how to react to others ideas. Not to judge. Be open. Be supportive. You probably read many articles, attend some trainings about that. But do we actually know how to empower development? Have you considered that empowering development is in fact to empower … failures ??? No? Let’s discuss !

There is no development without failures. If you don’t fail you probably don’t aim high enough. It is easy to say. But what is not easy is to report another week without breakthrough. It is not easy to extend your time plan third time in a row. Or extend budget. Or change a scope. You feel your team is performing, and they do the best they can but still – you are going in circles. The motivation is going down and the attitude is dropping. Now this is a challenge.

First you may want to consider the overall situation. You can feel the pressure but why? Is it from the Team? Are they frustrated? Burnout? Is it your stakeholders? They want effects? And they want them now? Or maybe it is about you? You feel the pressure you made by yourself by being committed to something no one really expects from you? I would love to know your experience and opinion on that.

Maybe, actually, the situation is not so bad. Every failure is at least one more path examined and can be treated as experience ?not to take this road in the future. It’s a lesson. It is up to you if those lessons will guide you in the future or you will keep repeating them over and over again.

Stay positive and don’t stop trying – you eventually may end up with a far better dinosaur than you started with.
