A Probable Gratitude Concept to Strengthen Routine Immunization

A Probable Gratitude Concept to Strengthen Routine Immunization

A proposed initiative which will benefit both the side of healthy ecosystem, i.e. supply as well as demand

There are many documents which prove the below mentioned facts-

-?????????vaccinator is overburden while conducting the immunization session

-?????????Fear of AEFI is one of the important reasons for left outs and drop outs for Immunization

Background- Presently vaccinator is responsible for giving “Key Messages” to beneficiaries, post vaccination at session, which includes the expected side effects of the vaccine, how to deal with that and next due dose of vaccine. These messages help to reduce the apprehension of beneficiaries, related to any AEFI and reduces the chances of drop outs. To give a context, many countries are using electronic on-site registration (mobile based) for vaccine administered.

An Idea- A wi-fi enable speaker, may be named as “Thank You, Box! Could be be placed at session, which will be linked with electronic registration system (if available in country). Post vaccination, as vaccinator will punch the vaccination status into e-registry system, the “Thank You, Box!” will thank the beneficiaries by name of parent, for having vaccine as well as provide the post vaccination “Key Messages”.

This initiative will decrease the work burden on vaccinator as well as will ensure the delivery of “Key Messages” which will convince people to return to session site for next dose. In between the vaccination, “Thank You, Box!” may provide pre-installed vaccination messages, at the background.?

Limitation and challenges-

-?????????Connecting “Thank You, Box! With e-registration system

-?????????Loss of human touch

-?????????Financial burden

-?????????Post procurement maintenance of “Thank You, Box!

-?????????Training concerns

-?????????Wi-fi and internet connection

-?????????Preparing voice message in local language

The idea may be piloted to see the efficacy of the concept at smaller scale, initially
