Step 1: Preparing a Contact Plan
Be clear on what you want
Before starting your job search, take the time to reflect on your strengths and weaknesses and the type of work you enjoy doing. The better you know yourself, the more likely you will find a new job that provides you with greater satisfaction. What do you want in a job? What is most important, title, money, promotion, the work itself, location, or company culture?
Developing your?MICRO NICHE?–?deciding on where you would like to work and what position you would like.
The first thing I suggest is to do is create a target list of companies and jobs you would like. You will need to match these to your skillsets for the maximum results.?
The Micro Niche = Narrow your F.I.G.S for greater results >> the micro niche will make a difference to your job search and make a positive impact on the decision makers and companies you talk too from day one…
NB.?My definition of selling within your micro niche is the ability to clearly differentiate yourself in the marketplace by communicating the value you can bring to your ideal position.
(It is not about being sleazy, or always closing or looking for the pain factor. It is about knowledge of your market, knowing the clients who are looking, knowing yourself and making a value proposition so compelling that companies get excited about you.)?
What is the Micro Niche?
The Micro Niche is a way to narrow your F.I.G.S for greater results. It can help with:

The decision makers contact details?= all information is on the internet and easy to find through google, the company’s website, LinkedIn etc.?
Current openings?= roles that the company might currently be recruiting, look for these on the company’s website, job boards, LinkedIn etc.?N.B – do not worry if they do not have any, REMEMBER this is about being proactive.?
Set yourself actions?= make sure you set yourself actions to be completed and follow them through, these could be, sending the decision maker your WHY ME document or calling the decision maker directly to sell yourself.?
