Proactive

Proactive

Our company has selected Proactive as a Core Value. We define this as:

Exceeding expectations by anticipating and addressing needs or challenges. Taking initiative to implement results.

Listed below are three Valued Behaviors associated with Respect & Fairness. Valued behaviors are observable and describe what the value looks like in action.

Valued Behavior 1: I suggest ways to improve our systems and processes.

It’s one thing to notice that a product, service, or process needs to be improved, but it’s what you do with that recognition that is so critical. If you keep it to yourself or complain without offering suggestions, you are doing a disservice to clients, coworkers, and yourself. If you have an idea, talk about it. Your idea could be the inspiration for something great!

Valued Behavior 2: I look for ways to prevent problems from happening again.

Sometimes we get so focused on fixing the immediate issue in front of us that we forget to reflect on the big picture. After problems arise, take a step back to examine the bigger picture and think about what can be done to prevent the same thing from happening again. And, once you know what the answer is, mention it to someone who can help.

Valued Behavior 3: I follow through and follow up with those around me to ensure that results are working as expected.

Once you are involved in solving a problem, it’s important to see it through. Whenever possible, be involved in the process. Even better, follow up after the initiative is complete to verify that others are happy with the results. This is really the finishing touch, and clients and coworkers alike will thank you for following up.

What are some methods you use to enforce the behaviors listed above?
