Step 4: Develop Exceptional People Skills

  1. Your Ability To Attain, Maintain And Leverage Healthy Relationships Is The Currency For Success: The ability to nurture healthy productive relationships that serves the interest of the collective is one of the skillsets of the proactive leader. You must learn how to master starting, managing and maintaining solid relationships if you want to experience exceptional social and economic growth in your life. Relationship is the mother of all social system that drives socio-economic development and the proactive leader knows this. He or she leverages this skillset to their fullest advantage. The inability to leverage exceptional people skills at the relevant demographic (s) is one of the fundamental reasons why many people live average lives and why many companies sustain themselves only in a survival mode.  
  2. Proactive leaders know how to start a conversation and keep it going. They are always mentally prepared to take the lead in identifying mutually interesting conversation topics and ‘wow’ the audience with their cleverness and savvy approach in navigating every conversational opportunity, if even they maintain their silences from time to time.
  3. The following are some recommendations that will empower you to develop exceptional people skills and influence every aspect of your life.

  5. Identify the people you are best interested in building a mutually rewarding relationship with:

  7. We all practice sales and marketing at some point of our lives. Our ability to develop and leverage sales, communication and marketing techniques will determine our altitude in life. You must become exceptional in selling yourself. You must become exceptional in connecting with people and you can best accomplish these qualities by studying the following points:
  8. 1)       Identify your target group (s): Their needs, wants and expectations. (Your Employees)
  9. 2)      Commit 20% of your time daily to connect with your target group   (20% Your Time - For 100% The Results)
  10. 3)     Ensure at all times that the relationship is balanced and mutually beneficial to all stakeholders:
  11. 4)     Invest in friendships and building healthy and sustainable relationships:  
  12. You must strive to develop your people skills to its fullest potential. This means that you must be prepared at all times, to take the lead in being the friendly face in the group and be the conversational Guru in the group, even if you let others lead the conversation from time to time. Starting a conversation or mastering your people skills is not the easiest accomplishment for most people. It takes time, it takes planning and preparation, it takes commitment and most of all it takes passion.
