Private Sector Employees In the UAE Must Have Health Insurance Starting 2025
Starting in 2025, it will be mandatory for private sector employees in the UAE to possess health insurance. This decision was reached during a cabinet meeting overseen by Dubai's ruler and UAE Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The meeting primarily focused on significant developments within the nation's labor market and strategies to bolster its competitiveness.
Of particular note, the cabinet endorsed a new framework mandating health insurance coverage for both private sector and domestic employees, effective from January 1, 2025. Additionally, the meeting saw the approval of a national biofuels policy aimed at promoting local production and consumption, alongside the restructuring of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. This restructuring included the establishment of a coordinating council for the UAE's labor market, dedicated to maintaining and improving its stability.
In 2023, the UAE experienced a 75% decrease in labor disputes compared to the previous year, with over 98% of disputes resolved by March 2024.
Elon Musk Claims His Use of Ketamine Benefits Investors
During a recent conversation with former CNN anchor Don Lemon, Elon Musk discussed how his prescribed use of ketamine has aided him in managing occasional bouts of depression, suggesting it positively affects investors in his companies, including Tesla and SpaceX.
Musk emphasized the importance of execution on Wall Street, stating, "For investors, if there’s something I’m taking, I should keep taking it." He disclosed that he administers a small ketamine dose once every other week to address his depression stemming from chemical imbalances.
When questioned about the potential implications of ketamine on his government contracts and reputation on Wall Street, Musk reiterated its advantages for shareholders.
Lemon also inquired whether Musk ever "misuses" ketamine. Musk, under medical supervision, responded, "I don’t think so. If you use too much ketamine, you can’t really get work done, and I have a lot of work."

Ketamine, a potent anesthetic, has recently garnered attention as a potential therapy for conditions such as depression and anxiety. However, it was associated with the death of Friends actor Matthew Perry, who succumbed to the "acute effects of ketamine," according to an autopsy report.
Lemon was slated to host three 30-minute episodes per week on Musk's X, formerly known as Twitter, before the deal fell through. Musk critiqued Lemon's approach on X, stating, "[Lemon’s] approach was essentially CNN, but on social media, which doesn’t work."
